PRACTICE ETIQUETTE
HOW WE MAINTAIN A CALM, SAFE PRACTICE
The practice of Dr. Anna M Wagner is a leading center in Basel for gynecology, obstetrics, aesthetic gynecology and selected beauty treatments.
To provide high-quality medical care, we also need a calm, respectful and focused environment. The guidelines on this page explain how we work together in the practice – so that all patients can feel safe, heard and well looked after.
By following this code of conduct, you help us protect your privacy, maintain medical quality and ensure a pleasant atmosphere for everyone.
RELIABLE MEDICINE – NOT INTERNET MEDICINE
We work according to clear medical standards and evidence-based guidelines. Information from the internet, social media, forums or blogs is often incomplete, misleading or simply wrong.
To give you clear, safe medical recommendations, we focus during the consultation on information that is medically sound and well-founded.
If you would like to discuss information you have read online, we are happy to do so – but this may require a dedicated consultation, especially when you are seeking a detailed second opinion or therapy planning.
APPOINTMENT SCOPE & ANNUAL CHECK-UPS
The annual check-up is a routine appointment with a clearly defined medical scope.
More complex or time-intensive topics require a separate appointment so that we can address them thoroughly and without rushing. These include, for example:
- Hormone questions and cycle regulation
- Persistent or complex symptoms
- Fertility and family planning
- Detailed therapy planning or treatment changes
- Extensive second opinions or review of large amounts of external reports
This helps us to keep waiting times fair and to give each patient the time and focus they need.
If you know in advance that you would like to discuss several topics, please let reception know when booking. We can then select the most suitable appointment type for you or schedule an extra consult to accomodate.
ULTRASOUND, PHOTOGRAPHY & FILMING
Ultrasound scans and intimate gynecological examinations are medical procedures with strict quality, hygiene and privacy requirements – comparable in standard to an operating theatre.
For this reason, filming, photography or audio recording are not permitted during ultrasound or intimate examinations. This applies both to recordings of the doctor and team and to the images on the screen.
We document all clinically relevant findings for you as part of your medical record. If you have questions about your ultrasound images or results, we are happy to explain them in detail during the consultation.
If you are unsure what is allowed regarding photos or videos, please ask us before your examination – we will gladly clarify what is medically and legally possible.
MOBILE PHONES & RECORDING IN THE PRACTICE
To maintain a calm atmosphere and protect the privacy of all patients:
- Please keep your phone on silent while in the practice.
- Phone calls and video calls should not be taken in the waiting room or corridors. For urgent calls, please step outside the practice.
- Please do not use the loudspeaker function in any area of the practice.
- Audio or video recording of conversations with staff or other patients is not permitted without explicit prior agreement.
These rules help us to protect confidentiality and ensure that everyone feels comfortable in the practice.
If you are unsure whether something is appropriate (e.g. recording a short note or photo), please ask the team first – we will be happy to advise.
MOBILE PHONES DURING CONSULTATIONS
For reasons of concentration, medical quality and privacy, we ask that mobile phones (including iPhones) are not used during consultations with Dr. Wagner.
Phones should be placed on silent and kept safely in a pocket or bag for the duration of the consultation. Recording of conversations or examinations is not permitted.
If there is a specific medical reason to use your phone during the appointment, please let us know in advance.
WAITING ROOM ENVIRONMENT & CHILDREN
Many of our patients may be anxious, in pain, pregnant or awaiting sensitive examinations.
To support a calm environment for everyone, please: Speak in a low voice in the waiting room and corridors. Avoid loud or disruptive behaviour.
Keep phone notifications and media (videos, music) muted while in the practice.
We ask you to come alone to your consultation where possible, but recognise this is sometimes not possible. In such instances children are warmly welcome in our practice but we kindly ask that they remain supervised at all times and that parents help them to respect the quiet atmosphere.
If you or your child need a short break outside the waiting room, please let us know – we will do our best to accommodate this within the appointment schedule.
RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOUR & WHY THESE RULES MATTER
We treat all patients with respect, care and professionalism – regardless of background, gender, sexual orientation or personal situation.
We ask for the same in return:
- Please speak to our staff in a calm and respectful manner.
- Aggressive, threatening or insulting behaviour towards staff or other patients will not be tolerated.
- In serious cases, we may have to end the consultation early or take further steps to protect our team and other patients.
All of these rules have one goal: to provide you with safe, accurate medical care in a calm and respectful environment.
Thank you very much for helping us maintain this standard for you and for all our patients.
